Appearance vs Reality (Act 2)

Lady Macbeth faints in order to take the focus away from her husband. This avoids further questionning of Macbeth’s actions.

(Act 2, scene 3, line 88)
“Woe, alas! / What, in our house?”
Lady Macbeth is acting as in order to hide her guiltiness.

(Act 2, scene 3, line 109-119)

Macbeth is recounting how he avenged his king’s murder by killing the culprits! He says it was good’s will and keeps ranting. However, we know it is a load of hoey since he is the murderer.

(Act 2, Scene 1, line 19-22)
Macbeth denies thinking about the witches’ prophecies but the previous scene says otherwise.
